i'm going to be a big brother!!!

Enough said!

OK, not enough said. I haven't posted in a while so there's a lot to catch y'all up on. I know that's terrible grammar.

So, hmmmm, there was halloween - at school I was one of many Nemos:

And then at home I was, of course, Derek Jeter. Who else?!!

So then there was Thanksgiving. First we had a thanksgiving feast at my school, and mom and dad came by to celebrate with me...and I just had to eat all my mom's food.

Then we had the real thanksgiving at my cousin's house in LA. Doesn't this kind of look like a family feud picture, the way my cousin Sam is just hanging out on top?

And I took lots of fun baths with my cousins - here's a great shot of me and my cousin Sydney pretending to swim in the bath.

And I played in the playground and apparently left about 5 minutes before Weezer showed up to play an impromptu set. I don't know who Weezer is, but it sounds like a very LA occurrence. I love this post-slide action shot!

And then we went and watched my big cousin Sam play soccer. He scored a goal! I missed the actual goal-scoring moment, but I'm told it was very exciting. I had a blast pretending to play soccer with my mini-soccer ball. And how about that shot of all four cousins playing in the field after the game!!

Then we went to Austin where my grandma got married! It's a lot better than grandma getting run over by a reindeer. So I got to spend time with family on two successive weekends!

Here's a picture of grandma Joyce in her dress with Carl at the wedding.

And here I am with my Aunt Belinda at the reception.

And here I am with mommy and grandma Joyce.

And cake. Yum.

I saw my Aunt Sam too, but somehow I don't have any good pictures with her. Next time! One last picture, just to show off my new "smile for the camera" smile. I clearly need to work on this.

OK, let's get back to this big brother thing. Just like any only child, I've become quite accustomed to being the center of the world. With that said, I'm kind of excited to have a little sibling that I can trick into doing things for me. And set up to take the blame for my mischeviousness. And punch when my parents aren't looking. I could go on and on.

But did you look at that 3-d picture above? It's an alien, I tell you - an alien has implanted something in my mom, and it's growing inside of her, and it's going to pop out of her chest and start singing "hello my baby" like that scene in Spaceballs. And nobody seems to be worried about it! Are they mad? Look at the picture!!!

I must say, though - pretty cool photo, eh?? :)

Spencer

holy cow it's been forever

I'm so sorry to all of my adoring fans that I've been out of touch for the last 2 months. Things have been so busy! I can't imagine telling all the details of my fascinating life over the last 9 weeks or so, so I'll just give you some highlights:

- I spent a few days with my Aunts Belinda and Sam (my mom's sisters) up in Mendocino

- I started at a new school! I'm officially a lamb. I prefer to think of myself as a lion, but the official name of the classroom is the lamb room. If I end up eating the other children, you'll know why. I'm a lion.

- I grew! Here's the wall hanging we've been using to track my progress. The animals are not to scale. Duh.

- I moved! My parents bought a new house, and we moved! I love my new house!

- My grandma and grandpa came to visit at our new house! We had so much fun!

- I won the nobel prize for kindergartners! Not because of my performance in kindergarten, of course, as I'm only 21 months old, but because I have the potential to do great things in kindergarten, and the nobel committee wanted to show its support. Thanks nobel people!

- I went pumpkin picking! This is my second consecutive year of pumpkin picking, and I was big enough this time to get a ride in the wheelbarrow...

...and I was big enough to ride my first pony, or as my dad calls it, mini allergen machine.

And check this one out for a mind-blower...which one is this year and which one is last year??

Holy cow, time sure flies when you're an infant / toddler. And why didn't anyone tell me I was so chubby last year? Come on people, be honest with me!

By the way, I can talk to the pumpkins.

OK, one last thing in this data dump of a blog post. I feel the need to show you a bit of live action starring yours truly...

Anyway, I promise to be more current with my blog posts in the future...

Love,
Spencer

Back from a great vacation!

Last week I brought my parents to Glacier National Park in Montana, and then we went to Seattle for a few days to check out the only city in America that is drearier in the summertime than San Francisco.

This brings my state count to 9 - I've been to California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Ohio and Massachusetts. My goal is to get to all 49 states by the time I'm 10. I say 49 because I'm holding out hope that by then someone will finally decide to merge the Dakotas to save costs.

Glacier is really, really, really gorgeous. I spent a lot of time on my dad's back in my favorite backpack, which I call a "back."

Admittedly, I also spent a bit of time sleeping on my dad's back.

So what did we see? Lots of glacier-carved rugged mountains and valleys:

A lot of animals, including this very cool moose...

plus we saw a bear on one of the paths and had to back away slowly so it didn't eat my mom. No pictures, since I hear bears eat camera-wielding infants, but it was reasonably scary/cool.

We walked across a rickety bridge where my dad totally broke the rules:

And I still made sure I had plenty of time to stop and smell the flowers!

And pose with my mom!

In Seattle, we visited some friends of my parents, Tim and Karrie, who traveled with them when they were off galavanting in South America some time B.S. (before Spencer). They have a 2-year old son named Collin who I felt like I could really talk to:

How do you like this one for synchronized sippy cupping!!

We also visited the Ballard Locks, which lets boats go from Lake Washington to Puget Sound (and back) without feeling like they're going over the falls in a barrell. They also had this very interesting Salmon Ladder there, which let...get this...salmon..swim up over a dam to get to their spawning grounds where they promptly die. Senior prom at Salmon High School must be pretty empty. Anyway, I had a lot of fun playing on those metal posts they have at the docks...

...and I spent a lot of time running from post to post, hitting the top of each post before running to hit the next one!

I have to give a big shout out to the Westin in Seattle. But first I'll give a big shout at the Westin in Seattle. Why are your closets and bathrooms too small to fit a pack 'n play? Geez! But thankfully, when my parents asked for some help in finding a way to let me sleep in a quiet spot, they gave the mother of all upgrades - to the top floor, crown suite! I'm not kidding! Just to orient you, here's a picture of the map on the back of the door, so you can get a sense for how big the suite is...and the suite doesn't even include the bedroom next door!

Here's the "entertainment room" and the "dining room." I won't bother including pictures of the kitchen or sitting room, or the second bathroom. Again, not kidding.

And the amazing view out the 40th floor window!

How unbelievably lucky were we? The place was bigger than our apartment in SF!!

Oh, did I mention my parents bought a house? We close tomorrow....more to come on that soon!!!

Love,
Spencer
